The Technology Section will host a seminar in data analytics by the case studies method, using advanced tools in Excel primarily. We will also address the roles of SQL, SharePoint, R, MatLab and SAS in data analytics for tasks beyond the scope of Excel. The seminar will occur Wednesday May 21, the day following the Spring Life & Annuity Symposium in Atlanta. It will run six hours, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Participants will need their laptop/tablet loaded with Excel, ideally the 2010 or 2013 version, though not the other software packages. Materials will be distributed to all registrants in advance of the meeting, i.e., data sets, case study descriptions and more.
We have two speakers for the Excel segment of the seminar, one speaker for R and one speaker for SQL & SharePoint. We need at least one more speaker to cover an additional case study, and one more speaker for both SAS and MATLAB. The division of time and selection of topics remains open, so at this point, our focus is on identifying engaging speakers who know Excel, data analytics and related software tools thoroughly.
Please contact Rich Junker 813.597.9967, or Albert Moore 513.794.6746, to discuss a speaker role for you.
