I am excited to be serving as the Education and Research Section Council chair this year. I am so grateful to Yvonne Cheuh for serving as chair for the last year. She worked tirelessly to provide interesting and enriching activities for all interested in actuarial education and research. I am also grateful for the contributions of outgoing council members Tom Edwalds and Emil Valdez.
I am pleased to announce that the 2019 Actuarial Research Conference will be jointly hosted by four Indianapolis-area schools (Purdue, Ball State, Butler, and IUPUI).
This year, we have some exciting conferences and sessions on the schedule. Western University is hosting the ARC this summer, August 8–11. Conference registration is now available. The program will be filled with top researchers in actuarial science and related disciplines and will include a reception at Museum London and a banquet in the University’s Great Hall. The ARC is always one of the highlights of my summer and I am sure that this year will be no different.
Additionally, we will be sponsoring sessions at the major SOA meetings (Life & Annuity, Health, and the 2018 Annual Meeting & Exhibit). If you have any questions about the section, or any of the conferences, please do not hesitate to contact me.
