The next Actuarial Research Conference will be held in Indianapolis on Aug. 14–17, 2019. The 54th ARC will be hosted by five universities in Indiana: Purdue University, IUPUI, Ball State University, Butler University, and University of Notre Dame. Each of these five universities has a significant actuarial science program covering most or all of the preliminary exams.
The conference will be located on the IUPUI campus in downtown Indianapolis. The campus is a ten minute bus (or Uber) ride from Indianapolis International Airport, which makes air travel convenient. Additionally, Indianapolis is also within easy driving distance of most of the mid-western United States and central Canada.
The campus and the conference hotels are within easy walking distance of downtown Indianapolis. The city has a vibrant downtown with a variety of excellent restaurants and bars. Additionally, within a short walk are a first class zoo, Victory Field (home of the Triple‑A Indianapolis Indians baseball team), the NCAA Hall of Champions, the Indiana State Museum, and the Eiteljorg Native American Museum. The world class Indianapolis Children’s Museum, the Indianapolis 500 Museum, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art (Newfields) are within a five mile drive.
The conference will kick off on Wednesday, Aug. 14 with an evening reception at one of the local landmarks. This will be followed by 2 ½ days of stimulating sessions. Also planned is a poster session for graduate or undergraduate students. The Conference Dinner will be at Dallara IndyCar Factory. Dallara manufactures the chassis for IndyCar. The evening will include the opportunity to hop in a Full-Car Racing Simulator so you can experience the real feel of being behind the wheel of an IndyCar. Additionally, we will see who can complete the fastest (simulated) lap on the Indianapolis 500.
We look forward to seeing you at the 2019 ARC for a great conference and a fun visit to Indianapolis!
