A new year brings new beginnings, new projects, and a new name for our newsletter. To reflect our section’s broader mission of serving actuaries with an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit, our newsletter is now titled Innovators & Entrepreneurs.
We have a busy year ahead of us with many different events on the docket. On Feb. 28that 12:00 p.m. there will be a Town Hall meeting to discuss the 10% actuarial entrepreneur. The session will be a 10 to15-minute presentation followed by 45 minutes for Q&A. Town Hall meetings are a forum for actuaries to discuss their entrepreneurial projects both in and outside of their day job.
We are planning webinars on pet insurance (2nd Quarter), microinsurance (3rdQuarter), and InsureTech (TBD).
We continue working on the creation of a book on actuarial entrepreneurship and innovation. We will announce a competition in this area shortly.
We will be hosting a half-day conference on innovation after the annual meeting in Boston this fall. More details will be forthcoming; we hope you will join us.
Finally, we began a series of podcasts with entrepreneurial and innovative actuaries, of which I am honored to be the first interviewee. You can find out more about this and other podcasts here.
As always, we welcome your input on potential projects and your interest in being a volunteer. Let’s talk!
Thanks for being a member of the section.
