I am honored to take over for Tom Totten as chair of the Entrepreneurial & Innovation Section. We have a busy year ahead as we are exploring several new projects along with our previously planned ones. We had an interesting webinar in September that was co-sponsored with the SOA and ACTEX Learning on how to implement entrepreneurship both inside and outside of your day job. We will be meeting face-to-face at the end of November to plan out the rest of the year, including some possible projects in the area of InsureTech and FinTech. If you are interested in either of those spaces and would like to learn more about what we are doing, please drop me a line.
I’d also like to extend a warm welcome to our three new council members, Lori Weyuker, Mark Spong and Nicholas Yeo. They come from different practice areas and geographical locations. Nicholas is, I believe, our first section council member from Malaysia, and Lori is working in the growing field of pet insurance.
As always, we welcome your input on potential projects and your interest in being a volunteer. We are currently looking for a webinar coordinator. If you are interested in helping to organize our section’s webinars throughout the upcoming year, let’s talk.
