Machine Learning in the Cloud – Part 1, Intro to the Cloud
Join hosts Anders Larson, FSA, MAAA, and Shea Parkes, FSA, MAAA, for the first in a series of podcasts focused on machine learning in the cloud. This episode introduces a useful definition of the cloud and digs deeper into what aspects of machine learning make it a good fit for cloud based solutions.
For many applications of machine learning, you can produce useful predictions using a normal desktop computer (or even a laptop). However, sometimes the value of better accuracy will cause you to move beyond a single computer. In today’s world, that likely means leveraging the “cloud.” This is the first episode in a series focused on machine learning in the cloud. In this episode we spend a lot of time better defining what a “cloud” provider offers, as well as why cloud offerings are often a good fit for machine learning workloads.
