See You in Chicago!
The Society of Actuaries (SOA) will host two events in 2025 – the in-person Valuation Actuary Meeting, presented in Chicago, August 17-20, and the virtual Valuation Actuary Meeting, September 16-18.
The Valuation Actuary (ValAct) Meetings empower actuaries across all practice areas for success with in-depth content on the latest valuation and financial reporting concepts, including US GAPP, US Tax Account, and International Reporting Standards (IFRS). ValAct content is tailored for professionals specializing in valuation actuarial practices within the insurance and financial industries. Content
Sessions must be educational and informative. While all practice levels are welcome, previous attendee feedback highlights a strong demand for more intermediate and advanced topics. As you develop your session proposal, please refer to the list of session categories that the planning committee has prepared for the 2025 meetings.
Delivery
As you prepare your session proposal, consider both in-person and virtual topics. Ensure your content is relevant, informative, and delivered in an engaging, dynamic way, as active audience participation enhances learning. Please refer to our list of session formats for guidance. In-person sessions will be either 60 or 90 minutes, while all virtual sessions will be 60 minutes.
Presenters
Include preferred presenter names in the proposal submission. Presenters should represent diversity of thought, including a breadth of perspectives, as well as a variety of companies (minimum two). Proposals that identify at least two presenters from differing organizations will be prioritized in the review process.
Deadlines
Session proposals must be submitted by March 17, 2025, to be considered for the in-person and virtual 2025 SOA Valuation Actuary Meetings. Please complete the submission form in its entirety.
Please note: Submitting a proposal does not guarantee selection as a session for the 2025 SOA Valuation Actuary Meetings. You will be notified the week of April 21, 2025, regarding the status of your proposal. It may be accepted as is or combined with similar or related proposals. The 2025 SOA Valuation Actuary Meeting Planning Committee reserves the right to decline any proposal if it is determined that the topic is not a fit for the program. Proposals that promote an individual company or product will not be considered.
