FSA Pathway: Reduction of Exam Hours and Content
May 16, 2022
The Society of Actuaries (SOA) announces a reduction in the exam hours and syllabus content for examinations in its Associate and Fellowship pathways. These changes support the SOA Board of Directors’ efforts to increase candidate pathway efficiency.
Candidates will benefit by the significantly shorter exam lengths and overall preparation time. In addition, the reduced exam lengths will allow Prometric testing centers to conduct three seatings per day as opposed to the current two seatings available for 5-hour exams.
The reduction of hours for Fellow of the SOA (FSA) tracks is facilitated by shifting the requirements for the Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA) credential outside of the fellowship pathway, with the exception of the CFE track. The option to substitute the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) exam for a two-hour track-specific exam will be removed. The FSA exam changes will be effective with the April/May 2023 exam administration. Learn more about the reductions in your FSA track.
The SOA is also announcing a reduction in the content/hours for the Predictive Analytics exam, and there are modifications to the SOA’s CERA credential.
