Economic Impact of Non-Medical Opioid Use in the United States

The Society of Actuaries’ Mortality and Longevity Strategic Research Committee announce the release of a new report on the economic impact of non-medical opioid use in the United States. Performed by a Milliman team led by Stoddard Davenport with Alexandra Weaver and Matt Caverly, this study estimates the total economic burden of the opioid crisis in the United States from 2015 through 2018 and projects future costs of the opioid epidemic for 2019.
