Society of Actuaries Board Approves Extension to FSA Transition Deadline

Schaumburg, IL, June 16, 2022 – The Society of Actuaries (SOA) Board of Directors voted at their June 11-12, 2022 meeting to approve a transition extension for certain Fellow of the SOA (FSA) candidates. The extension applies to Fellowship candidates who attained the ASA designation by July 1, 2018. These candidates are exempt from passing the Predictive Analytics exam if they complete all requirements for FSA (including the Fellowship Admissions Course) prior to the new deadline of January 1, 2024. This is a one-year extension in addition to the previously communicated six-month extension announced in December of 2020.

The Board approved this one-year extension in response to continuing challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular closures of some exam centers in early 2022. This transition extension will allow for two more FSA exam sessions (fall 2022 and spring 2023) before the final deadline. The SOA does not anticipate making any further extensions.
