In Memory of Noel John Abkemeier

Noel John Abkemeier, 80, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023. He was born in St. Louis, MO. Noel was a graduate of St. Louis University where he met his wife, Joann. He began his long career as an actuary starting with General American. He went to work for Allstate Insurance where he worked for 22 years. He retired from Milliman Inc. after 19 years of service. Retirement did not last long; Noel started his own consulting company in 2015, Abkemeier Actuarial where he worked until the day he died. Numbers and actuarial science were his passion.

He was a member of the Society of Actuaries, the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and the St. Louis University Alumni Association. He served as the president of the Glenview Public Library in Illinois.

He adored his grandchildren and cherished the time he spent with his grandson, Andrew. They were the best of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" Joseph Abkemeier and Elizabeth "Lee"Ann Mueth Abkemeier. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joann Abkemeier; his children, Erik Abkemeier and his wife, Shannon Martin, Kristin Abkemeier and Kurt Abkemeier; his grandchildren, Andrew, Jonathan, Aaron and Kate Abkemeier and his siblings, Mary Lee Abkemeier and her husband, Wyley Peckham, and Bill Abkemeier and his wife, Mary.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Donations in Noel's memory can be made to the Autism Society or the Union of Concerned Scientists, to address his worries about the future of the planet that he so loved inhabiting for 80 years.
