Kay Firth-Butterfield
Kay Firth-Butterfield is the CEO of Good Tech Advisory and has been leading work on Responsible design, development and use of AI from the beginning. In 2024 Kay received the TIME 100 Impact Award. In 2014 she became the world’s first Chief AI Ethics Officer and became Vice-Chair of the IEEE Global Initiative for Ethical Considerations in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems in 2015 and the founding head of AI at the World Economic Forum in 2017 where she also served on the Executive Committee. She is frequently cited as a leading woman in AI and was featured in the New York Times as a woman changing the landscape of leadership.

Over the past few years, we received consistent messages expressing a deep appreciation for the meeting's role in facilitating knowledge across all practice areas (life, annuity, health and more) curated to keep the financial actuary informed on the latest valuation and financial reporting concepts. Registration and Travel
The registration process for SOA events has changed. You will now choose your sessions after you have completed registration.
Once you have completed the registration process you should receive a confirmation email from InEvent with links to select your sessions and to let us know if you are a first time attendee.
To build your schedule, click the link in the confirmation email and log in with your SOA credentials. Once you log in you will automatically navigate to the event agenda. Sort through sessions by date, topic, experience level or format and and click "Add" to add them to your schedule.

Fitness Experiences
Tai Chi
Tai-chi is a practice of mindfulness in motion, focusing o movement of the body with the breath. This type of Tai-chi practice is accessible for everyone as it is a gentle in nature and may be done from a standing or seated position. The practice focuses on improving mobility, coordination, and flexibility while helping to lower stress levels. This practice is ideal for all ages and fitness levels. If you plan to attend, you must register in advance.
The Tai Chi sessions will be led by Carol S Sakai, Ph.D in Medical Physiology who is experienced teacher of yoga, tai chi and meditation. She is a certified yoga therapist. In terms of tai chi, she has trained under Master Ma LeTung in the Fragrant Hills of Beijing, China. She has been teaching in the Washington D. C. Metro area for over 30 year. Currently she practices in Virginia. She specializes in helping people reduce their stress levels, in addition to helping those with special medical health needs modify their practice to accommodate to their particular situation. She has taught many organization such as Arthritis Foundation, Parkinson Foundation, Suburban Hospital, Marymount College, Capital One to name a few.

Paws and Play Zone
Hero Dogs is bringing in some of their furry friends to help our attendees unwind!
Hero Dogs is a Maryland non-profit that raises, trains and places highly skilled assistance dogs with heroes. They match service dogs and skilled home companions with disabled veterans and first responders to promote independence and improve their quality of life. Hero Dogs also places facility dogs and therapy dogs, both of which make huge impacts in their communities.
Attendees can support Hero Dogs by purchasing an SOA bandana or leash, donating directly, purchasing an item from their Amazon wishlist, or volunteering.
SOA E-sports Arena
The New York University e-Sports Team is coming to ImpACT to help facilitate a little healthy competition! Bring your peers to the Expo Center to compete in games like Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros, FC 24 on Nintendo Switch. The competition concludes during the Tuesday Mix and Mingle Reception with our Mario Kart 8 Flash Tournament. 16 players will have the chance to win a Nintendo Switch OLED.
75th Anniversary Time Capsule
Where do you see the actuarial profession in 25 years? Answer this question to receive your SOA 75th anniversary pin. The time capsule will be opened for the SOA’s 100th anniversary in 2049.

Need to step away from the main action of the meeting. The Zen Den will be available during the conference and is intended as a quiet, calm space where attendees can spend time away from noise, lights, and other stimuli of the event spaces. This room is not available for conversations or meetings.
