Message One
Hi My name is Melody Prangley and I am currently the Deputy Chief Actuary of the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS). I am running for a SOA board position and I am asking you to consider voting for me.
I want to promote the actuarial profession to an inclusive, diverse group of future actuaries. I have volunteered at the Society of Actuaries for nearly 15 years and I have found my career to be vastly rewarding. I have met so many actuaries who are smart and creative, problem solvers. My passion is to promote the actuarial career through:
- Education:
- Further development of the newly created SOA Centers of Actuarial Excellence and Universities and University Earned Credit program
- Adding Emotional and Adaptability Quotient development to our students’ education
- Inclusion:
- Continuing to strengthen the SOA’s Diversity Extension of the University Earned Credit
- Creating new programs to support women’s’ growth in our profession
- Internship Opportunities:
- Working with employers to increase internship opportunities to open the door to more incoming students
I am passionate and approachable.I am open to listening to issues and opinions and focusing on positive solutioning. Thank you for considering a vote for me!
