Message One
I am thrilled to be running for the SOA Board as an Endorsed candidate. As an actuary educated in
Argentina, the SOA credential expanded my career horizons beyond my imagination. I want to keep
that vision alive for future generations of actuaries. This is why I have been promoting the SOA and
the actuarial profession through the Latin America Committee. If elected, I will support the Board in
the SOA’s journey to becoming the leading global actuarial organization.
Critical issues and trends impacting our work that I would like to tackle include:
- The evolution of what it means to be an actuary, by supporting the education redesign with a
focus on data science and AI, - Preparing candidates to achieve positions of leadership beyond those traditionally dominated
by actuaries, - Diversity efforts to make the actuarial profession more representative of the populations we
serve and to serve them more effectively, - Opportunities to penetrate industries where actuaries have been historically underrepresented,
stereotyped, or underappreciated.
I hope to count on your vote in September!
Message Two
The work we do has a large influence on our society and impacts the financial health of our communities. As a leader of a multidisciplinary team, I am continually impressed with the skill set that actuaries deploy to solve real-world problems. I am also amazed to see how much more effective our solutions are when we leverage our communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. This is why I am committed to the SOA’s strategic plan to “prepare actuaries to be business leaders who leverage data, technology, and judgement to create responsible risk solutions.”
If elected to the board, one of my priorities will be to elevate the visibility of actuaries. Whether we work in an industry that has traditionally employed actuaries or one that has yet to tap into actuarial talent, understanding the value we bring to our teams and addressing our blind spots will make all of us more relevant and influential in our jobs.
There is still time to vote! Please invest five minutes today in shaping the future of our profession.
