I am privileged to be an endorsed candidate for the SOA Board of Directors. Over the years, my experiences and achievements within the actuarial community have shaped my vision for the future and dedication to advancing the profession. The actuarial world calls for adaptability, continuous learning, and a genuine commitment to addressing societal issues. I care, and I want to do more for the SOA. A primary focus of mine is ensuring ample job opportunities for actuaries and expanding the reach and impact of our industry. Brief Description of Current Work
As the co-founder and President of Valani Global, I've cultivated a dynamic team of actuaries at the forefront of innovative actuarial solutions in life, health, and P&C. My responsibilities revolve around strategy and guidance, ensuring we consistently deliver the highest level of service. Besides my professional commitments, I've been an active supporter of budding actuaries, as showcased by the Valani Global Pilot Scholarship Program, which has played a pivotal role in the academic journey of many students.

Nazir Valani FSA, FCIA, MAAA, is the President and co-founder of Valani Global. He specializes in Moody's solutions, including AXIS, IFRS17 Link, and RiskIntegrity. His expertise includes software conversions, actuarial transformations, appointed actuary work, life products, annuities, CALM, US statutory, and US GAAP.
Before establishing Valani Global, Nazir gained extensive experience in the insurance industry and worked at GGY AXIS. Notably, he founded a life actuarial consulting firm, evolving it from a solo venture to Canada's second-largest life actuarial practice. Nazir's dedication to the actuarial profession was recognized when he received the Society of Actuaries President's Award in 2018, and he was also spotlighted in the SOA's "Society of Achievers" video.

Nazir Valani's commitment extends far beyond the actuarial community. His diverse background, arriving in North America as a refugee, offers a unique perspective, which he has applied in numerous leadership roles. Nazir served on three distinguished boards, including the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and Hospice Toronto, an organization committed to home hospice care, support for young caregivers, and more. His involvement with The Neighborhood Organization is a testament to his commitment to supporting immigrants, where he champions education, job opportunities, and further support. He is slated to assume the position of Board Chair in June 2023.
His professional journey also saw him at KPMG LLP, focusing on Risk Management and advising clients on the nuances of governance. He was pivotal in improving governance for a community-centric funeral plan as the National Committee for Burial Plan Chair.
A distinct chapter of Nazir's journey was his three-year voluntary service as a Minister, dedicating his evenings and weekends to a congregation of about 2,200 individuals, overseeing weddings, funerals, baptisms, and extending support to the sick and elderly.
His extensive experience, paired with his entrepreneurial spirit, promises to make impactful contributions wherever he serves.
