Brief Description of Current Work
I recently led the Corporate Development team at RGA which pursued strategic, entity and large in-force block acquisition opportunities, strategic partnerships, and alternative capital solutions (such as RGA’s recently launched sidecar or the use of strategic retrocession). Prior to this, I led Global Business Development for Global Financial Solutions at RGA for a number of years. Team members were located in Asia, EMEA, and North America. Business development included both client engagement and the development of reinsurance solutions.

Bio
David Boettcher recently retired having spent 26 years with Reinsurance Group of America where he most recently served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development. In this role he was tasked with building and leading a team focused on optimizing financial performance through strategic acquisitions and partnerships, the use of third-party capital, and the enhancement of returns or divestiture of in-force business. Prior to this role, David served as Chief Operating Officer for RGA’s Global Financial Solutions (GFS) business where he led a team of regional business leaders and had overall responsibility and accountability for GFS business written globally. Much of David’s time was devoted to business development, market research, new product initiatives, and the underwriting of new business.
David’s more than 35 years of actuarial experience in the insurance industry give him deep and broad global knowledge of the life insurance industry’s financial needs. Prior to the 2010 creation of the Global Financial Solutions unit, David led RGA’s International Division’s Capital and Financial Solutions team, successfully writing RGA’s first asset-intensive transaction outside the US and its first global longevity transaction. Prior to 2008, David served as the International Division’s Chief Actuary, overseeing all aspects of pricing and actuarial support.
David earned his Bachelor of Mathematics in 1985 from the University of Waterloo and received his FSA and FCIA two years later.
