John W. Robinson, to Serve as 2021-2022 President-Elect
The Society of Actuaries (SOA) announces the results of the 2021 Board of Directors Elections, with John W. Robinson, FSA, MAAA, FCA, of Apple Valley, Minn., serving as the 2021-2022 SOA president-elect. Robinson is the first Black SOA president and will begin his duties as the 74th president at the 2022 ImpACT Conference, the SOA’s annual meeting.
Robinson is a global thought-leader, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) champion, strategic thinker, relationship-builder and inclusive leader.
During his term Robinson will lead the SOA Board of Directors. Along with his fellow Board members, Robinson will vote on important strategic decisions to ensure they will fit with the SOA Long-Term Growth Strategy and Strategic Plan.
Robinson has served as a member of the SOA Board and previously served as president of the International Association of Black Actuaries (IABA). He also volunteers regularly as an SOA exam grader and with the SOA’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee, and the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Research Advisory Committee.
Robinson recently retired as an actuary with the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
