2024 Partner Volunteer Award Recipients
The SOA appreciates all volunteer contributions of time, talent and expertise. The SOA Partner Volunteer Award is presented to Non-SOA member volunteers who contribute their time and expertise to help the SOA accomplish its mission.
Carla Parodi
Senior Actuarial Consultant, Self-Employed
Carla is an accredited actuary from Argentina who has also practiced in Columbia and Spain, and she applies her experience as an active member of the SOA’s Latin America Committee by representing the Argentine Actuarial Institute. Carla is involved in outreach of students and employers in South America on the SOA’s behalf at in-person and virtual events. Despite having been credentialed through a different system, Carla believes in the value the SOA offers, and she has been integral in raising awareness of its strong reputation across South America. She has been exceptional in developing relationships between the SOA and regulators, universities, local actuarial associations and employers in the region, and she has spoken on behalf of the SOA at actuarial conferences in many Latin American countries. She has also written articles published in Latin American insurance journals, organized actuarial workshops and participated in more than 20 webinars.
As a member of the SOA Latin America Committee, Carla has been involved in the area of education, facilitating the University of Buenos Aires to become the first Latin American university with the designation of UCAP-Advanced Curriculum. And she has facilitated the process for VEE application across universities throughout the region
Carla has played a pivotal role in promoting the actuarial profession and raising awareness about the SOA across Latin America. Carla embodies the spirit of volunteerism, and her dedication to the profession and the SOA Latin America Committee has been integral in supporting the profession in the region.
