Funding Public Health Insurance Plans Canada and Globally
Research Projects in Health
The Society of Actuaries and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries announce the release of a research report on funding of public health insurance in Canada and other Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries. The study, performed by John Have, Douglas Andrews, and Denis Garand, Denis Garand & Associates, addresses the actual health care funding models and metrics in seven countries (Canada, Sweden, France, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States) along with health care metrics for another 13 countries (20 OECD countries in total). This report, provided in English and French, also suggests a number of possible areas where actuaries could provide expertise to assist in the management of public health care plans.
