Voting Process
Eligible Voters
Associates who have been members of the SOA for at least five years and all Fellows are eligible to vote.
Voting Slate
The SOA will announce the final slate of candidates for the current year’s ballot. Voters can find out more about each candidate through individual webpages on the SOA website that include biographies, answers to the election questionnaire, a photo and video message to members. Email communications are sent to the voter community by the SOA on behalf of all candidates. During elections, there can also be voting for specific Bylaw changes or additions.
Election Voting
The voting period takes place over a three-week period in August and/or September. Eligible voters receive ballots via email from an independent vendor. Voting is confidential and anonymous, and votes are counted by the independent vendor.
Results
Certified results are available several days after the election voting closes. Election results are sent to a team of SOA leaders to review and verify. Candidates are then notified of the outcome and the election results are communicated to members through an email announcement and other SOA communications, such as social media and the SOA website.
