Partnership Opportunities
The SOA has a history of partnering with actuarial and non-actuarial organizations and individuals in developing and delivering professional development opportunities. While keeping the SOA’s Mission and Vision, Strategic themes, key stakeholders, and Competency Framework in mind, there are varying levels of partnership opportunities.
Partnership Opportunities are a means to address needs within the organization. The SOA is looking to partner with organizations/individuals that are leading-edge, distinctive, innovative, and add something fresh and dynamic to our curriculum plan. These partnerships should raise our visibility collectively and contribute to the development of our members.
The SOA has a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Requirement for all members of the SOA. Members must complete 60 units of professional development every two years. Members must earn 30 units per cycle in structured education. Structured credit is any organized activity or experience which is derived from an organized activity in which there is an opportunity for interaction among participants. Partnering with external organizations enhances the variety of options to our members in helping fulfill that commitment.
The SOA provides three distinct partnership opportunities.
Jointly Sponsored Strategic Alliance – The process by which two or more organizations work together to conduct and share in the financial outcomes of a program. To be considered, the Strategic Alliance Application form would need to be completed. This would be reviewed and discussed by the Professional Development Committee to ensure the program is relevant, making appropriate use of instructional technologies to assure timeliness of engaging programming. If the program is approved, the organization would work with the SOA to formalize a Memo of Understanding outlining the roles and responsibilities and financial obligations.
Sponsored Strategic Alliance – The process by which two or more organizations work together to support a program with participation in marketing the event with potential profit sharing. To be considered, the Strategic Alliance Application form would need to be completed. It would then be reviewed with the next course of action determined (i.e. submitted to a Section or the PDC). If the program is approved, the organization would work with the SOA to formalize a Memo of Understanding outlining the roles and responsibilities and potential financial obligations.
Co-Sponsored/Recognized – The process by which one or more organizations work to support and become associated with a program conducted by another organization without participation in either the process of conducting the event nor sharing in the financial outcome. To be considered, the Co-Sponsored/Recognition Application form would need to be completed. These events would be validated and should not conflict with SOA scheduled events that could be construed as competitive.
