The Application of Credibility Theory in the Canadian Life Insurance Industry

The Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) and The Society of Actuaries (SOA) Financial Reporting Section, Product Development Section and Committee on Life Insurance Research announce the release of a new research report on the application of credibility theory in the Canadian life insurance industry.  An analysis and comparison of the credibility methods being utilized was performed for both mortality and lapse using representative sample data sets.  Authored by Leslie M. Jones and Patricia Matson of Risk & Regulatory Consulting,  this report is composed of results from a company survey on the approaches used to assess data credibility.  Additionally results from an analysis and comparison of the credibility methods being utilized is included.
